Candy Kennedy Stripsearch

My name is Candy Kennedy

Im a 26 year old Cape Town born Photographer.
I began shooting at the age of 13 after I bought a copy of national geographic and decided that one day I was gonna move to Alaska and become a wildlife photographer. So I started shooting landscapes and stuff that crossed my path.

I dropped out of school in grade 11 and decided to persue my career in the real photo industry. I started running a photographic equipment rental business and Studio in Harrington Street, Gardens and learnt the finer details about camera gear and lighting.

I flew to New York in 2002 to buy some new photo gear for my company. Whilst in New York I decided to shoot my first fashion shoot with a model friend. We shot on the Brooklyn bridge, at the metro station and various other places.  Yeah, the photos weren't fantastic but that was definitely my big turning point from wildlife to fashion, and I’ve never looked back.

I started shooting model portfolios with all the Cape Town agencies in 2004, and quickly started getting the hang of lighting and composition.

Infidels , my agency at the time got me my first advertising shoot, for American Express Middle East . I flew to Dubai for 1.5 weeks and loved it. 2 months later I packed up my life and made the move to Dubai. I have been here for 5 years and have built up an outstanding reputation for myself. I spend a lot of my time traveling and working in Cape Town and in Paris

A few years ago I moved to Paris in search of a new look for my photography. I began hanging out with musicians in Paris and quickly fell in love with not only the music industry but the characteristic faces of a rockstar.

I’ve worked with celebrity Dita von Teese.
Shot for magazines such as L’Officiel , Mens Health, Marie Claire, Elle and Emirates Woman. International Advertising clients include Dove, Oil of Olay, Emirates Airlines , Qatar Airways, American Express,  Universal Music and Shangri-la music.

Im not just limited to stills photography, but am also working on a few film concepts that I hope to direct and film in the near future.Being a photographer has given me the advantage of understanding light, composition and direction. I also work on many film sets doing behind the scenes stills and videos which gives me the opportunity to study the way the film industry works

i am heading to Cape Town, South Africa on June 14th 2010 for 1.5 months to photograph my first portrait book.

In August i will be heading over to France for 3 months before flying back to Dubai for season.
